Holy War! is Lucas Leyva's first play, written when he was a fifteen years oldMrLeyva was born and raised in Miami, Florida went to New World School of the Arts High ('05), and recently graduated from Fordham University ('08)Twenty of his short plays have been seen in seven states, and one has been a Heideman FinalistRecently the Miami New Times called his play The Wereloaves of Brickell Ave"ridiculous and innocent and beautiful...the funniest 15 minutes of theater I've ever seen." He is published by Playscripts, Incand in 2006, October 4th was declared a holiday by the Mayor of Miami in honor of MrLeyva and six other teens featured on the cover of Selecciones Magazine as "Seven teens who are changing the world." As the founder of the Borscht Film Festival, which the Miami Herald called "Miami's alt culture summit," MrLeyva has been directly involved in the creation of dozens of short films in almost every facetIn 2009 MrLeyva contributed his poetry to a collection of Hialeah Haikus, published by Editorial Ultramar and was named one of "33 Emerging Creative Minds" by SoFi MagazineHis latest project is directing a short film titled Day N Night Out by acclaimed playwright Tarell Alvin McCraney, which will soon be appearing in international film festivalsHe is also a founding member of the artist collective the CCCV, and Foryoucansee TheaterIn March, he will be directing the avant-garde musical MrsMs as part of the Here and Now Festival at the Arsht Center in Miami, Florida.
